9/11

9/11

9/11 is a day I shall never forget even if the universe one day takes away my cognitive powers. I had just come back from a few months in Miami where I tried to set up shop, but found myself back in NYC despite my best efforts. I guess my love of this town was just too strong. I had lived in Battery Park City and worked in #2 World Trade Center on the floor of the Mercantile Exchange for many years. I had been downtown on September 10th reorienting myself for the return to the floor, but for some reason didn’t go there on that fateful day. How strange is fate. A left turn instead of a right and your whole life changes. Well, mine certainly did that day. I’ll write about it at length someday. But for now just understand that the memory is burned into my soul. I lost many friends, clients, my business, and saw what proved to be the end of a long chapter in my life. But I was one of the lucky ones. I got a chance to reinvent myself and take a different path. So many didn’t. The months that followed were harrowing and painful. It’s difficult sometimes to embrace the memories. But they are always with me. My deepest love, respect and tears for those we lost and for the innocence that our nation and the world will never know again. ā¤ļøšŸ™šŸ˜ž

Mitch,
Thanks for sharing you thoughts and feelings about 9/11. Very meaningful and as you said sometimes a left turn or a right turn can change your destiny.

Hi Mitch,

Very heartfelt story to share with all.
Yes, a very sad and poignant day in our history.
My daughter was is Building 6 as she heard the the first plane hit the tower.
Fortunately, she had the intuitive sense to leave the her office immediately, in
fact she left her phone on her desk. It took her 7 hours to walk to her UWS apartment and
eventuallyhear from her.
Blessings are sometimes overlooked and memories of the past, and on days like today, it is so
important to keep the flame and memeories close to our hearts.
There was a master plan for you and you have used that well.
To quote Lorenzo in Bronx Tale: “The saddest thing in life is wasted talent”
Happy that you are here!!
