MARS ENTERS ARIES:
On Saturday June 27th at 9:45 P.M. EDT until January 6th 2021 Mars enters the sign of its rulership, a place where it certainly feels more at home than it did in Pisces. Because of the retrograde of Mars, which occurs every 2 years it will remain in this sign for more than 6 months, an extremely long period of time. While this is the sign of its rulership, many astrology students make a common mistake by assuming that any planet in its rulership either in the natal chart or by transit will automatically result in a positive or easy-going atmosphere. I have not found that to be the case. The energy of that planet is more user-friendly and easier to direct, and it will allow us to move forward with the force of that planet without much resistance. But at times it can be excessive in its force and overwhelm us. For example, many people with the Mercury in Gemini are very bright and extremely communicative, and their intellect can be something to admire, but they may not know when to stop talking and listen to what someone else has to say. Jupiter in Sagittarius is a very positive and expansive placement and if used properly can lead to much success and a very generous disposition. But at times it can be too optimistic and not terribly realistic, etc. Of course with self-awareness it does not create a problem. But it does require a conscious decision to keep proper boundaries and to assert without aggression. That is what we as individuals and a collective must contend with over the coming 6 months.

So while Mars is in this cardinal fire sign it may tend to be quite outspoken and egocentric. As individuals it’s up to us to make use of its power and confidence in our lives without losing sight of the potential to act in a self-righteous or arrogant way. On the world stage there may very well be an escalation of tension and even outright violence or military intervention. There are several hot-spots in the world that could easily explode. North – South Korea, the Chinese – India border, Israel, or even the Divided States of America. Since there isn’t a hell of a lot we as individuals can do to change world politics, it would be wise to keep an eye on how you are relating to those around you, and to avoid being too aggressive. Also, take this into account if you’re planned a long vacation and thought that it would be a good time to visit the Himalayas.

As with all aspects this will affect us on a personal level depending upon where in your chart Mars is traveling. The house that it will transit over the coming months will be the place where much activity will ensue. Because of Mars’ normal tendency to not yield, and with it in Aries for such a long time it would be wise to sidestep any direct confrontations when possible. If you do decide that an issue is worth the battle, be prepared to follow through with all of your strength. Otherwise you could be on the receiving end of someone else’s unbending force. We can get a lot accomplished during this 6 month period and there will be a strong undercurrent of will and ego. So try to use this energy to your advantage and stay active and productive. If you keep a good sense of balance this will be a wonderfully productive period.
