THE SUN ENTERS ARIES: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

On Thursday March 19th at 11:50 P.M. EDT we begin a new our journey through the zodiac. Welcome to Spring! Each season begins as the Sun enters each of the 4 cardinal signs. Most people have no idea how much astrology is present in their day to day lives, and how much it has influenced the development of our culture. While I enjoy January 1st (and the night before) and will celebrate that pagan Roman holiday, this is what I have always considered the start of the New Year. This is a time to reaffirm your ongoing projects or to begin some new ones. If something still has validity then by all means continue to pursue it. You may choose to look at the continuing efforts from a new perspective, or you may finally recognize that one or more of your projects aren’t worth the effort. In any case take the blinders off and open your eyes to what’s happening around you. If you waste time dragging something old and worn out into this new cycle it will prevent you from trying something new and exciting. Be clear and honest with yourself about what’s worth your time.

This is an aspect that should normally bring us all hope and anticipation about what the future will bring. Under our current circumstances it’s understandably much more difficult to envision that positive future. And it’s tempting to give in to our fears and our panic. But this is exactly when we need to find faith and compassion for those around us. It’s not easy to walk through New York City and see restaurant and bars and stores shuttered. Or to enter a supermarket filled with trepidation wondering if there is anything left on the shelves, or if someone in line with you may be sick without even knowing it. Frankly, I would worry more about anyone who doesn’t feel some stress under these circumstances. But there must be a balance between panic and common sense. Be careful and take precautions. This is going to be a long drawn-out time of uncertainty. But we’re in it together. It’s not just hitting one group or another. And the economic collapse is equally non-partisan. This is crossing all cultural, religious, racial, and every other divide that has separated us for years. Maybe that’s exactly what the lesson is. Maybe it took something as horrible as this to remind us just how much alike we are, not how different. Catastrophes seem to pull people together. Sad to say, but war, acts of god and pestilence have often brought mankind together to fight a common enemy. And since it doesn’t seem like the aliens are in any hurry to land in Central Park and declare themselves rulers, this is the best we have. Stay healthy and vigilant.
