MARS, THE GOD OF WAR ENTERS SAGITTARIUS, THE SIGN OF EXCESS:
On Friday January 3rd at 4:37 A.M. EST until February 16th at 6:33 A.M. EST the ego enters this boundless sign. This can give us a jolt of fresh energy and a strong desire to express our individuality. While that is a positive and exciting concept it does come with a word of warning. It’s easy to overdo things in this Jupiter-ruled sign, and Mars has little regard for limitations under any circumstances. So it would be wise to keep an eye on your ego and how you express it. If you use this energy properly you can accomplish a great deal in a few weeks. You won’t feel the usual restrictions and may be more willing to take some chances and step outside the box. But if you ignore all limitations you may find that others push back against your efforts and that can lead to problems. Find a good balance between your desire for new ideas and horizons, and respect for other people’s boundaries and this will be a very successful and growth-oriented period for the individual.

On the world stage you can expect escalation in any militaristic circumstance. With this ingress the usual limitations are no longer in place and there is a good chance of something getting completely out of hand. With the tension between the U.S. and Iran being as severe as it is, and the apparent death of Iranian general Soleimani as well as the recent protests at our embassy in Baghdad, this is one situation that could certainly explode. It won’t take much to ignite the powder keg. Saturn is conjunct Pluto now, and the pent up tension associated and with that combination is already boiling over. (For the history of hard aspects between Saturn and Pluto please read my article on my website.) Now with the Sun, Mercury and Jupiter all riding together in Capricorn as well, and the god of war entering this most expansive and uninhibited sign, I expect that it will be difficult to deescalate the problem. Trump, in his infinite lack of wisdom has gutted our diplomatic corps and there is no longer a back channel in most areas of the world where discussion and cooler heads can prevail. This is what happens when you have a megalomaniac in charge who believes that only he, with his total dearth of knowledge and experience can accomplish what career diplomates with decades of practice can’t. We may see more problems coming to a head throughout the world. North Korea, Syria, India and Pakistan, etc. While I will not succumb to hysteria or predict doomsday, there is cause for alarm. I don’t believe that this president or his “advisors” have the skills to handle these situations. Already the price of oil has jumped, and if it continues it will lead to the inflation that has so far been kept at bay. Let’s see how the markets respond to all of this in the coming days. As you know I have been predicting a serious market downturn for later this year and into 2021. We can see the dominoes fall one after another long before a crash. This may be one of those tiles that tip over the rest. I pray for calm and restraint. And for a more experienced and intelligent leader.
