VENUS ENTERS LIBRA: WHAT THIS MEANS PERSONALLY AND FOR THE MIDTERM ELECTION
Also on Wednesday October 31st at 3:42 P.M. EDT until December 2nd at 12:02 P.M. EST after it completes the square to Uranus Venus will retrograde back into Libra, one of the signs it rules. Venus feels at home here, and usually this represents a period of ease and comfort in relationships. But the retrograde motion will make it more difficult to understand what you really want from a relationship and how to express those feelings. This will be a time when intimate connections and partnerships will be most prominent. Those that are well founded and secure will do very well. The retrograde may strengthen them and give you a deeper sense of their purpose. But those relationships that are having difficulties might find that the sense of belonging is being tested and may put pressure on some of your closest. Try to think before you speak and express yourself honestly and openly. Libra can be passive-aggressive and not always the most direct of energies. It is most important now that you say what’s on your mind and not let anything be misunderstood, especially in intimate relationships and close friendships.
The desire for balance is strong in human consciousness, and Libra is represented by the scales of justice. It controls the 7th house, which rules all partnerships and close relationships. When the world tips too far in either direction we have a moment of crisis and attempt to repair the damage. In the 1930s much of the planet was pulled completely to the right, with dictatorships in Spain, Italy, Germany, Russia, and Japan. The result was, of course, the Second World War which challenged that perspective resulting in the death of tens of millions. After the wild and wooly 1960s with its underground tug to the left, America elected Richard M. Nixon twice. (That didn’t quite work out as planned.) It’s our nature to try to rebalance, sometimes with a violent push in the opposite direction. Our society once again is seriously unbalanced now with the scales tipping heavily to one side. Italy, Hungary, Brazil, and America have pulled to the right, and it looks like Germany may be on the way there as well. There is no middle ground and many people feel lost and disenfranchised. Libra doesn’t like direct conflict and often sidesteps confrontation, sometimes with unexpected consequences. The coming mid-term elections are an opportunity to find some leverage in that pursuit of equilibrium. Will they in fact produce that effect or will they continue the slide to one side of the political spectrum requiring years to achieve that result? We will know in a week or so.
