MONTHLY SINCE 1999
ISSUE # 215
Note: All aspects are most powerful and effective as they apply. Once the transit has completed, its force is lessened. The further it separates the weaker it becomes.
I have published this monthly newsletter every month since 1999 except one, when I had the flu. This is only the 2nd time in 18 years that the monthly report has been so late. My apologies to my readers for the delay. I run two computers in my office to prevent a catastrophic collapse in case one computer crashes. A few weeks ago both computers did just that Š they crashed within days of each other. So did my cell phone. For those versed in astrology, Secondary Progressed Uranus was in exact square to my natal Jupiter, ruler of the chart. This, along with some stressful transits was sufficient to create the problem. ItÕs taking me some time to get up and running, but IÕm slowly getting back up to speed. This has once again reminded me just how much we have all come to rely on these machines and how crippled our lives can become when they fail us. So, here are the aspects for the rest of this month.
This month we have a large shifting of energy. Mars will enter Cancer, Venus will go into Taurus, one of the signs it rules, and Mercury will enter Gemini, a sign it too rules. These are all inner, quick moving planets and their change of signs isnÕt bad. Still, it does imply that our day to day activities are going to feel different, and we all must change how we address many issues. The underlying actions as projected by the outer planets motions are more important and will show us much about where our society and this political mess is heading. But donÕt underestimate the movement of those quick personal planets. It is usually one of them that act as the trigger to the outer planets interactions that we usually see as the cause of societal direction.
Jupiter goes direct, and Neptune retrogrades. These are more powerful in some ways, and how they aspect the inner planets while changing direction gives us a hint as to what to expect. We will see some seismic changes in the world, one of which has occurred as IÕm preparing this newsletter for publication.
An astrologerÕs rant on the state of the nation:
The cacophony playing out in Washington D.C. with this dysfunctional administration has become more disturbing on a daily basis. Today our president has decided to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement that virtually every nation on the planet but two have agreed to, in an attempt to slow down global warming. ThereÕs really no sense in holding back my opinion at this point. Donald Trump is an evil, sick man who shows all the signs of early dementia. It is my opinion, as well as many of yours that we have handed over not only our nation but the planet to this sociopath. He has no conscience or regard for anyone but himself. He is a stupid, ignorant fool with so little knowledge that itÕs almost embarrassing. But the damage that he will do puts all sense of propriety completely out of the question. IÕm not embarrassed by him, IÕm infuriated. We all knew what we were getting during the campaign, and now we will reap the harvest of the choice our collective has allowed.
Trump is a perfect example of how the planet Uranus can manifest in the most negative way. He is a contrarian who will take the opposite side of any issue just for the sake of being on the other side and shaking things up. He is explosive and erratic without any logic or common sense. Not all Uranian people act this way. Some are insightful, experimental and can successfully expand our perspective. But those with this planet powerfully placed in the natal chart at times have the inclination to act out in this manner. With TrumpÕs Full Moon (Gemini Sun opposite a Sagittarius Moon) and Uranus so close to those two most personal planets he is a disruptor, a destroyer and one who will upset any apple cart he comes in contact with. I (and many others) warned you of this trait months ago. Now we are seeing the results of what a single person given too much power is capable of doing. I have felt for years that the office of the President of the United States was too powerful for any single person. We should have a government that is run by committee and voted on, not controlled by the whim of a one person. As we now see, all it takes is for an individual without morals, knowledge or scruples to destroy centuries of work. I mourn for the union and for the planet.
As always, I respect the differing opinions of my readers and friends, and I know that there are some who disagree with me. Any of you who wish to be removed from my mailing list please let me know. But I will no longer hold my tongue or hope for compromise or a solution. Trump is a lying, thieving, ignoramus who is going to flush us all with his insane ideas and conspiracy theories. As many of you know from my past writing we have a solar eclipse on August 21st at 28 degrees Leo right on his ascendant and near his natal Mars. He also has Saturn on his Moon this year and in opposition to his Sun and Uranus. IÕm hoping that this combination will do enough damage to him physically and politically to stop this madness before itÕs too late.
The New Moon falls on Thursday May 25th at 3:44 P.M. EDT at 4 degrees Gemini 47 minutes. The main focus this month will be on communications of all sorts. There will be an underlying need to get your point across and to uncover the truth. With Jupiter about to go direct this will be more obvious than usual. This will be evident in our personal lives and in world events. In our personal lives this is a month of talking and understanding what the other person is saying. The better you see the other point of view the easier it will be to react in a logical and caring manner. Gemini isnÕt the most emotional of signs, and it can seem a bit distant or cold at times. So use the intellect more than emotions to achieve your goals.
WeÕre obviously in a period of tremendous political agitation when facts are distorted and variations on the truth abound. This month there will be a number of things exposed on the public stage. Pay attention to whatÕs being said, and donÕt take everything on face value. Dig deeper and try to understand what the underlying objectives really are. This month will be a time to question many things. We will see more demonstrations and a bubbling up of the collective anger that is being prodded in Washington. What is at stake now cannot be overemphasized. This is the whole shebang, as they say. Humanity is at a most important crossroad and if we take the wrong turn there may not be a way back.
MARS OPPOSES SATURN:
On Monday May 29th at 2:54 A.M. EDT this difficult aspect completes. This is a day or two of frustration and limitations. Mars represents our energy and force, as well as the ego, and it is used to a free hand. Saturn is the great limiter that will put restrictions on our ability to use that energy. I believe this opposition had much to do with TrumpÕs decision to leave the Paris accord. HeÕs angry that there is so much resistance to him and his policies, and that the collective refuses to drop the obviously illegal and dangerous connection he has built to Putin and the Russian oligarchy. He feels maligned and will do whatever he can to hurt everyone around him. HeÕs a little boy caught with his hand in the cookie jar, and now heÕs going to set the house on fire in retribution.
VENUS CONJUNCTS URANUS:
On Saturday June 3rd at 3:31 A.M. EDT this combination will bring us a few days of erratic and changeable energy. This is a few days when we should all be seeking something new and exciting. ItÕs not a time to rely on the tried and true, but to explore the unknown. This may bring out some unexpected reactions, and could upset the status quo.
Venus has much to do with relationships and with financial matters. It is by nature a calm and peaceful energy that prefers balance and continuity, leaving the more explosive situations to its male counterpart, Mars. But Uranus has no regard for stability or passivity. (Our president has Uranus conjunct his Sun and in opposition to his Moon. Need I say more?) This combination will result in a more explosive and erratic response to relationships issues and many of us may find it difficult to retain the status quo. If youÕre involved in a bond that normally tends to be somewhat inconsistent or unstable, you can expect some volatility. You would be wise to avoid any situations or conversations that may lead to disagreements, if possible. While I am a firm believer in free-will astrology, there are times when the aspects overwhelm our best efforts. Keep your eyes open and try to sidestep anything that is a threat to your continuity.
In financial matters this may represent a reversal of direction or some unpredictable results. It may be a very interesting few days in the stock markets. This may go either way, as Uranus can be so disruptive that I have seen it set off clientÕs charts with the result being a huge windfall, or a bad crash. Following TrumpÕs decision to exit the Paris agreement it wonÕt surprise me to see a violent reaction in the markets and in the streets. I for one will be out there marching and making my voice heard.
THE SUN TRINES JUPITER:
Also on Saturday June 3rd at 12:12 P.M. EDT this very pleasant and easy-going trine will allow us a chance to experience the flow of positive energy and to extend our perspective outward to include some new and exciting events and ideas. This is a very sociable aspect, and many people will be in the mood for some interesting interactions. Expand your consciousness, and seek new ways of looking at the world and your place in it. This is a very good aspect for travel, education or anything that will enlarge your point of view. Because it coincides with the Venus conjunct Uranus mentioned above you can expect some very exciting prospects. Just use a little caution. This is closely followed by the Sun square Neptune mentioned below that will create some confusion and misdirection. While there will be an underlying sense of excitement and amiability there is also a feeling of confusion that can cause misunderstandings to abound.
THE SUN SQUARES NEPTUNE:
On Sunday June 4th at 12:14 P.M. EDT this very difficult aspect will complete. This can be a few days of extreme confusion and misdirection that can cause all sorts of problems. On the personal level it will be hard to clarify things. ItÕs important that you express yourself carefully and make sure you are understood, and that you understand others. DonÕt accept a nod from someone as clarification. They will be just as confused as you are, and may choose to sidestep issues that require a strong opinion. Decisions are difficult to make with Neptune so active, and it often seems easier to just ignore them. That would be a mistake. Neptune does most of its potential damage in the shadows. There is a sense of fogginess about it, and the only way to avoid problems is to eliminate that fog and bring things out to the light. With the world and our political situation in such disarray we can expect more distractions and misunderstandings. I have often felt that Neptune is the most dangerous of all the planets when it comes to direction and choices. Saturn will be harsh and unyielding, and can create limitations. Uranus will suddenly shift the ground underneath us, and Pluto will dig up all the buried and hidden agendas, problems and secrets, forcing us to clean up the mess we have made. But Neptune works within the arena of the unsubstantiated and unprovable. We take things on faith, which is fine on a spiritual level. But it is not sufficient on the material one, and that is where this planet will do its most damage. This square is often very bad for the equity markets, but we are nowhere near a crash or collapse. That will come in about 2 years. For now it is important that we blow the smoke away and see what is behind it. The Wizard of Oz was all about smoke and mirrors. (Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. I am the great and powerful TrumpÉ) DonÕt fall for it.
MARS ENTERS CANCER:
Also on Sunday June 4th at 12:16 P.M. EDT until July 20th at 8:20 A.M. EDT the planet of ego and power enters this most emotional of signs. This is a difficult placement for Mars. It tends to make us overly emotional in inappropriate situations. And it will at times exacerbate power struggles, as feelings may overwhelm objectives and lead to a solution that is not to the best interest of one or more of those involved. Those born with this placement know full well the potential for overreactions and taking things too much to heart. It would be wise to take time making important decisions and perhaps to get another opinion from someone who isnÕt normally too emotional. Most of historyÕs sea battles have occurred while Mars was in a water sign. That should tell you a bit about what this energy can do. When we are in the water of life, the interaction of our emotions in relationships, it is always a challenge to avoid the potential battles and disputes we often encounter. Until Mars moves into Leo on July 20th you should use caution when confronting someone, and try to use reason instead of passion.
VENUS ENTERS TAURUS:
On Tuesday June 6th at 3:27 A.M. EDT until July 5th at 8:12 P.M. EDT Venus enters one of the two signs it rules. While Venus has much to do with our interactions and it will be effective on our most intimate connections, this is the 2nd sign of the zodiac, and as such represents financial matters more than relationships. We all will be more concerned about our money situations and will be forced to make some important decisions regarding it. Taurus is very much concerned with stability and building a strong foundation. Any financial decisions you must make should be thought out carefully and slowly put into action. You must be sure that there is a long term reason for your choices, and not just a flippant or sudden whim. If there is a good purpose behind the decision it should pay off down the road. This is a good placement for long-term investments, not for day trading.
But as I said above Venus always has much to do with our interactions in our close connections. Taurus can be quite stubborn. ItÕs necessary to try and keep an open mind and not make your choices unyielding. If you are finding it difficult to get someone to change their mind you must have patience and allow them to make the changes at their own pace. If you try to push a bull it will push back. If you use tolerance and perseverance you can lead it where you wish.
MERCURY ENTERS GEMINI:
Also on Tuesday June 6th at 6:15 P.M. EDT until June 21st at 5:58 A.M. EDT Mercury enters one of the signs it rules. This will be a mentally active period when we can all accomplish much on the intellectual level and get some important paperwork out of the way. But it can make us all a bit nervous as our minds will be working overtime for the next few weeks. Most of us will be chatty and find communications of the utmost importance. While the conversations may be somewhat mundane and a lot of frivolous information will be exchanged, there is an important connection that occurs through verbal interaction in all relationships that strengthens that contact. Even the simple act of saying good morning to a neighbor has a powerful and lasting effect that we may not recognize. And that is what you should be doing. Through the act of everyday communication you can create a bond that can have lasting effects. This is a good period for any travel, especially short trips, and to study anything youÕve been anxious to learn. Just make sure you keep your mind busy to dissipate the excessive mental force that will be emitted.
This monthÕs lunar peak occurs on Friday June 9th at 9:10 A.M. EDT at 18 degrees Sagittarius 53 minutes. This sign can overdo almost anything and expand issues beyond their normal parameters. The usual limitations and boundaries associated with other zodiac signs arenÕt of concern to Sagittarians, and itÕs important to stay within acceptable parameters. We may hear some outrageous things in the media, not a surprise considering whatÕs been making the news lately. For the most part this is a positive lunar aspect. Sag really wants to be a confident and optimistic energy, and with Jupiter going direct today as well (see below) we may see a period of growth and enthusiasm. But that of course could take many forms. Certainly whatever happens over the next few days will be big and quite energetic, and depending upon your personal attitude about things, it may be very encouraging, or very disturbing. Sag, and its ruling planet Jupiter donÕt really care, as long as itÕs large and important enough to satisfy this signs HUGE ego. Use some caution, advice I usually give on all Full Moons, but especially now with our world in such disarray and Neptune being quite active this month. DonÕt believe everything you hear, and donÕt sign on the dotted line until youÕve had someone else look things over. Sometimes when something is too good to be true, it is exactly that.
JUPITER GOES DIRECT:
On Friday June 9th at 10:04 A.M. EDT this largest planet begins its forward motion. For months weÕve been dealing with the internalization of JupiterÕs force and desire for growth and expansion. Now weÕll see much of its power begin to push out into the world. This is a good time for anything educational including travel and classes. The turnaround of Jupiter has a powerful effect on the equity markets, sometimes in one direction, sometimes in the other. If the stocks are undervalued, they will begin a strong move up. If theyÕve been floating on a lot of nonsense, they will tip over and head down. We should know in a few days. There are a number of negative aspects completing over the next 2 weeks, so I wouldnÕt be surprised by a dip.
If youÕve been trying to advance your career or an idea, it may be easier to do so now that Jupiter is turning. Most people will feel more optimistic and willing to take chances. This planet is more active in gambling than any other, although Uranus is often activated when someone hits it big. You might find that people are willing to take a chance on your scheme when they havenÕt been responsive over the past 4 months or so since Jupiter began moving backwards. Jupiter is most interested in the truth. It rules higher education and the law. Now that itÕs finally going direct we may be able to achieve certain goals that have been difficult. The truth may finally come out about a number of issues that have plagued us, including the Trump administrationÕs interaction with the Russians. But there will be a number of issues that will be exposed and will have a powerful effect on our culture.
MERCURY TRINES JUPITER:
On Tuesday June 13th at 11:45 A.M. EDT this very positive and optimistic aspect completes. For a day or so it should be easy to get people interested in your ideas. This is a good time to discuss a project, make a pitch or seek support for something youÕve been working on. But Mercury will square Neptune later tonight, (see below) which will change the atmosphere quite a bit. If you plan on discussing something important, make sure you get to it before this trine completes and that following square begins to apply. For the day or so leading up to this you should feel its optimism and take advantage of it. Monday into this morning is a good time for any travel or important conversation. Do try to at least take a drive or a long walk. You may be very pleasantly surprised at how your mind works and the ideas you come up with.
MERCURY SQUARES NEPTUNE:
Also on Tuesday June 13th at 11:29 P.M. EDT this very confusing and distracting square will make it difficult to communicate clearly and to get your point across. This is a misunderstanding waiting to happen. You should take precautions to avoid that by taking your time and making sure you are saying what you mean in a concise and easy to understand manner. It is easy to misinterpret things and to act out in ways that donÕt achieve your goals. Be very careful while traveling. The confusion this can create might be very active in all travels, especially in a car. All it takes is a few seconds of distraction to create a problem.
THE SUN OPPOSES SATURN:
On Thursday June 15th at 6:17 A.M. EDT this dour aspect will complete. This can be a bit dull and reserved. You may find it hard to express yourself and many of us will find our energy level rather limited. The way to deal with this is to simply lower your expectations and not to push yourself too hard. This is felt most strongly in relationships, as all oppositions work through other people. But it isnÕt a useless or evil aspect. It requires an attitude of patience and care. ItÕs a good day to look over your life and examine your connections and projects. But donÕt take it too seriously. Saturn tends to only see the negative side of things. If you allow yourself to slip into the pessimism Saturn can project you will lose sight of the positive things around and not make the most of this. Focus on what your true objectives are and aim your attention towards reaching them. In relationships do not become overly critical or you may alienate someone. If you feel withdrawn you may wish to spend some time alone. ThereÕs nothing wrong with that, but try to explain your feelings to anyone who might be offended or put off.
On Friday June 16th at 7:10 A.M. EDT until November 22nd 9:21 A.M. EST this confusing planet begins its yearly backward trek. We will all internalize the energy Neptune represents for the next 5 months. This will be most obvious in certain areas, such as creative or faith-based issues. Many artists will find themselves deeply involved in projects, but may find it difficult to share them or to find a receptive audience until this planet goes direct again in November. That doesnÕt mean that you canÕt present your work. But you must be sure itÕs ready and not let it go out unfinished. You will regret it in the long run.
We are heading into a period when many issues will be hidden in a fog. How well we can expunge the smoke and see whatÕs behind it will decide the results. This may have an effect on the congressional hearings and it might be hard to uncover certain facts. But with Jupiter going direct now as well, I believe we can get to the bottom of things. How much can be done to stop the destruction Donald Trump has set his mind to, I donÕt know. Jupiter has little regard for boundaries and is very capable of exposing uncomfortable truths. If we can push aside the Neptunian fog we can get to the facts.
THE SUN SEXTILES URANUS:
On Sunday June 18th at 2:46 P.M. EDT we are offered a chance to make some changes in our plans, projects and attitudes without the usual struggle. This is a very positive energy that can help us break through some limitations and outdated ways of looking at the world. However, because this is followed closely by the Mercury opposite Saturn mentioned below this will be a day of mixed feelings and changeable moods. On the one hand, this sextile will open our consciousness to new ideas and choices. But Saturn tends to create limitations and with the opposition to Mercury it may be more difficult to think outside the box. Just accept that there will be conflicting forces at work and follow your feelings. DonÕt expect too much today. You may have the desire to try something new or to present your ideas, but your energy level may be too low to make a good impression.
MERCURY OPPOSES SATURN:
Also on Sunday June 18th at 3:07 P.M. EDT this low energy aspect will make communication difficult and could make many of us feel withdrawn and unenthusiastic. Because of the Sun sextile Uranus taking place today as well there will be a tug of war between the outgoing and the internalized. The oppositions are more powerful than the sextiles though, and this Saturn aspect will dominate most of the time. This is not a good day for social activities or for public presentations. The lack of oomph will make it hard to generate much passion or gusto, and even the most creative and well planned actions may not receive the reaction they deserve. Once this passes its energy will begin to wane, and by Monday we should find it easier to get our point across. If you feel tired today, donÕt push the envelope. Rest and take things slow. ItÕs a good day to sit in the park and just reflect. But donÕt let any negative or pessimistic thoughts overwhelm you. Saturn can do that, so be aware and take it all with a grain of salt.
THE SUN ENTERS CANCER:
On Wednesday June 21st at 12:24 A.M. EDT summer officially begins. This sign is all about family and friendships. ItÕs a warm and fuzzy sign that likes to sit around the house in shorts and slippers sipping tea or a cold beer. ItÕs an emotional sign and there is a build-in insecurity button that might need your attention. If you or someone you care about is a bit needy, do what you can to reassure that things will be alright. The next month will be best spent engaged in emotional actions. Leo is a better sign for romance, although as logic will have it, this emotional sign precedes the more flamboyant romantic Leo. First comes love then comes marriageÉ Of course we arenÕt all built the same way, and our needs differ. But generally this is the time to spend at the beach with the kids. Next month is the time for the hot and heavy.
MERCURY ENTERS CANCER:
Also on Wednesday June 21st at 5:58 A.M. EDT Mercury will join the Sun in this sign. There is a Sun-Mercury conjunct occurring (see below) and the combination will make many of us a bit overly emotional. ItÕs a good time to call family or old friends and catch up. It also favors any activities in the home, including redecorating, cleaning or just relaxing and entertaining. Mercury in this sign can communicate through feelings more than the intellect, which is fine for some, but can be misdirecting for those of you who have a lot of air and fire in your charts.
THE SUN CONJUNCTS MERCURY:
Also on Wednesday June 21st at 10:14 A.M. EDT this common conjunction completes on the Dark of the Moon. This is a willful aspect when many people will feel that they have all the answers. There could be some disagreements or arguments. Be careful how you talk to others. They may be feistier than you realize and unwilling to bend. While it would be nice if we could find compromises, it seems that the rift in our society is growing larger and deeper. I donÕt know how this will all turn out, but IÕm pretty sure it wonÕt be too pleasant.
DARK OF THE MOON:
The next New Moon falls on Friday June 23rd at 10:31 P.M. EDT at 2 degrees Cancer 47 minutes. The day or two leading up to it will be a particularly low energy period. If you tend to be emotional this may be a very trying time each month. I have found that people with prominent moons or a Cancer Sun, Moon or ascendant respond to the lunar cycles more intensely than others. Spend this time finishing up anything that is incomplete, donÕt try to initiate new projects on a waning moon, it just wonÕt work out. Once the New Moon hits you begin new projects or attempt a new approach to an existing problem. If you have been living in a situation or involved in a relationship that is intolerable or has outlived its usefulness this would be the proper time to move on with your life. If you have been working on a project that is almost complete but you seem to lack the energy for the finality, you must push during these low energy days to end the matter once and for all. If you donÕt, when the New Moon arrives it will bring this ŅdeadÓ energy along with it and conflict with the newer force being presented. Each month we are offered a chance to clean house, so to speak.
Below is a list of times this month when the Moon is Void of Course and neither important decisions nor purchases should be made during these periods. The Void of Course Moon is a time when we should try to center ourselves and deal with spiritual matters not materialistic ones. Any decisions made on the VC Moon will not turn out the way we had expected.
The Moon is Void of Course from the time it makes its last major aspect in a sign until it enters the next sign. For example, if the Moon squares Mars at 27 degrees Aries and then has no more aspects until it enters Taurus it will be Void of Course for three degrees or about 6 hours. The aspects used are the conjunction, sextile, square, trine, and opposition. All times are Eastern Daylight Time:
Please note: In response to requests from readers I have added a few VOC Moons into the next lunar cycle for those who need to make plans before my next newsletter is released.
